By-product Processing:


By-product processing is a method of separating the solid from liquid waste in the manufacturing process. Potentially useful products include phosphorous, potassium, calcium and magnesium compounds along with silica sand and silt (silicon dioxide).

Thermal phosphoric acid (TPA) processing is used to produce feed grade dicalcium phosphate. It is a cost-effective method as compared to other conventional processes such as hydrothermal and microwave drying which uses high energy input. TPA process does not require any additional heat during the reaction, thus it can save around 50% of the total energy cost of process when compared with other methods.
