Feed grade dicalcium phosphate (DCP) is a feed supplement that is used to improve the nutritional value of feed. It is made up of calcium and phosphorus, two essential nutrients for animals. By-product Processing:
By-product processing is a method of separating the solid from liquid waste in the manufacturing process. The by-products obtained can be used as an alternative to primary production or disposed of as waste. By-products are usually classified into two categories, namely; those that are potentially useful and those that are not potentially useful. Potentially useful products include phosphorous, potassium, calcium and magnesium compounds along with silica sand and silt (silicon dioxide).
Thermal Phosphoric Acid Processing:
Thermal phosphoric acid (TPA) processing is used to produce feed grade dicalcium phosphate. It is a cost-effective method as compared to other conventional processes such as hydrothermal and microwave drying which uses high energy input. TPA process does not require any additional heat during the reaction, thus it can save around 50% of the total energy cost of process when compared with other methods.
