Global Feed Phytase Market by Type (Liquid, Dry), By Application (Ruminants, Swine, Poultry, Others) and Region (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East & Africa), Forecast From 2022 To 2030

Report ID: 304812 4200 Agriculture 377 210 Pages 4.9 (39)

Market Overview:

The global feed phytase market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.5% from 2018 to 2030. The growth in the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for meat and poultry products, rising awareness about animal nutrition, and growing concerns about environmental pollution caused by livestock farming. The liquid feed phytase segment is projected to grow at a higher CAGR than the dry feed phytase segment during the forecast period. This can be attributed to the benefits offered by liquid feed phytases such as easy handling and storage, lower dosage requirement, and better absorption of nutrients by animals. On the basis of application, ruminants are expected to account for the largest share of the global feed phytase market in 2018. This can be attributed to factors such as rising demand for meat products from developed countries such as Europe and North America and increasing awareness about animal nutrition among farmers in developing countries.

Global Feed Phytase Industry Outlook

Product Definition:

Feed Phytase is an enzyme that breaks down phytic acid in feed. This releases nutrients that are otherwise unavailable to the animal. Feed Phytase is important because it improves animal nutrition and growth.

Liquid:

Liquid is a form of phytase enzyme, which is widely used as an animal feed supplement. It helps in improving the quality and quantity of meat produced by animals. The liquid product type can be further divided into two types including hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) and microorganisms-based liquid (MBP). MBP has been gaining importance on account of its ability to improve gut health in animals whereas HVP has gained significance due to its high phosphorus solubility.

Dry:

Dry is a form of phytase used as an anti-caking agent in animal feed and food products. It is commercially available in two forms including crystalline and amorphous. Crystalline dry phytase has better properties than amorphous owing to its more regular structure, which results in enhanced performance during the digestion process by livestock.

Application Insights:

Ruminants were the largest application segment in 2017 and are expected to continue their dominance over the forecast period. Phytase enzyme plays a major role in breaking down phytic acid which is present in plant cell walls, thereby allowing absorption of essential nutrients such as calcium, iron, zinc and magnesium. The product has been traditionally used for dairy cows but its use is now extended to include buffaloes as well.

The global demand for meat from cattle has increased significantly over the past few years owing to rising awareness regarding health benefits of animal protein along with growing population. This trend is expected to have a positive impact on market growth over the forecast period.

Regional Analysis:

North America dominated the global feed phytase market in 2017. The region is expected to witness a CAGR of XX% over the forecast period, owing to high animal feed production and rising meat consumption in countries such as U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Asia Pacific is expected to be one of the fastest-growing regions during the forecast period owing to rapid expansion of livestock farming sector mainly due to growing population coupled with government initiatives such as “one family one farm” policy implemented by China which encourages people not only from rural areas but also from urban cities live on farms.

Growth Factors:

  • Increasing demand for animal feed due to the growth in livestock population
  • Rising awareness about the benefits of using phytase in animal feed
  • Growing demand for organic food products, which necessitates the use of organic feed additives such as phytase
  • Technological advancements that have led to the development of more efficient and effective phytase products
  • Stringent regulations on food safety and quality that favor the use of phytase-based additives in animal feed
