Solid ferric chloride is a solid, colorless and highly toxic compound. It has a pungent odor similar to that of rust. Solid ferric chloride is an oxidizing agent used in the preparation of Ferric Chloride as it reacts with oxygen present in the atmosphere to form iron oxide which acts as an additive for enhancing the lightening effect.
