Product Definition:


Fire resistant coatings are used to protect a variety of substrates from the damaging effects of fire. Intumescent coatings are a type of fire resistant coating that swell and expand when exposed to heat, which creates a barrier between the substrate and the flames. This barrier protects the substrate from being damaged by the heat of the fire, and can also help to extinguish or slow down the spread of flames. Intumescent coatings are often used on structural members, such as columns or beams, in order to protect them from being destroyed in a fire.


Spray:


Spray is a fine mist of liquid that is propelled into the air by compressed air or other medium. It can be used to apply intumescent coatings on large surfaces and in confined spaces. The spray technique offers an advantage over conventional methods such as troweling, brushing, and rolling; it allows for easier application of the coating on complex shapes and in tight spaces.


Brush:


Brush is a device used to spread fire retardant on the surface. It consists of long stiff hairs which are electrically charged at high voltage. The charged brush spreads the fire retardant over a large area and in thin layers, hence increasing its effectiveness. Brushless technology does not use brushes but rather uses fluid propelled nozzles to direct the flow of the liquid onto the substrate.


Application Insights:


Building and construction was the largest application segment in 2016, accounting for over 70% of the overall demand. The growth can be attributed to increasing infrastructural development activities across regions coupled with rising applications in industrial facilities, commercial buildings and residential constructions.


The product is widely used in industrial facilities to prevent loss of life and property due to fire accidents caused by electric short circuits or equipment failure.
