Synthetic (man-made) butyric acid is a fatty acid that has been produced by the chemical synthesis of glycerol. It is an ester and has similar properties to natural butterfat such as density, water solubility, and taste. The major difference between natural butyric acid and its synthetic counterpart is that the latter does not contain any cholesterol in it.
Renewable Butyric Acid:
Butyric acid is a colorless liquid that has a strong odor similar to butyrospermum. It is used in food as well as other industries like pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Butyric acid can be derived from either natural or petrochemical sources, the most common being petroleum. The method of production largely depends upon the availability of raw material and cost involved in its extraction.
