Methyltin is a kind of stearyl tinctorio, which is an organic compound with a p-Cymene group. It has properties similar to that of pyromellose but it’s more stable and can be used in higher concentrations. It’s major application includes the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) stabilizers which are widely utilized in geomembranes, roofing membranes and flooring materials among others.
Butyltin PVC Stabilizer:
It is a colorless liquid with a slight aromatic odor. It is soluble in water, ethanol and ether. It has excellent adhesion properties to soil, rock and metal surfaces as well as high tensile strength.
It also has good thermal stability which enables its use in hot-melt adhesive applications for roofing membranes and flashings where durability is important but flexibility is required at some places.
