Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It can infect the genitals, rectum, and throat. Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA):


Nucleic acid amplification is a process by which the DNA or RNA of an infected person can be made to copy itself many times, resulting in increased concentration of the infecting organism. This test is used for detecting gonorrhea and other related infections. The nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) are divided into two types: direct NAAT and indirect NAAT.


Gram Stain:


Gram stain is a method used to detect the presence of bacteria in a sample. Gram stain procedure involves the use of acid and Country Gram (RC) media, which are used to grow gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The appearance of these bacterial species can then be observed under a microscope for identification purposes.


Application Insights:


The market is segmented based on the application as hospitals and pathology labs. Hospitals held the largest share of over 70% in 2017. The major factor contributing to this large share is that most of the population gets diagnosed through laboratory tests at a hospital, rather than a private lab.
