A hand held pulse oximeter is a medical device that measures the oxygen saturation of arterial blood and pulse rate. The device consists of a small probe that is placed on the fingertip, earlobe, or other site, and a digital display. The probe emits light waves in both the red and infrared spectrums. These waves are absorbed by hemoglobin in red blood cells as they pass through tiny capillaries. The amount of light absorption is directly related to the amount of oxygen present in the blood.


The hand held pulse oximeter measures these changes in wavelength and calculates the percentage of oxygen saturation (SpO2) from them. It also calculates heart rate by measuring how often each waveform repeats itself over time (pulse rate).


Disposable Sensor:


Disposable sensor is a small device that measures oxygen level in the air. It works on the principle of photo-oxidation, which involves reaction between light and oxygen.
