They can be segmented into two types depending upon their application; namely external rotor pumps and internal rotor pumps.
Ceramic Rotors:
Ceramic rotors are used in the manufacture of Helical Rotor Pumps. They are available in different forms such as rings, discs and pads. Ceramic material is used owing to its properties such as corrosion resistance, high thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity along with low weight which makes it suitable for making rotor.
The pump body consists of main shaft, impellers or blades and seals which make contact with the liquid being pumped out from the wellbore.
