High chromium cast iron is a type of cast iron that has a high chromium content. This type of cast iron is used in applications where wear resistance and corrosion resistance are important.


General High Chromium Cast Iron:


General high chromium (GHCr) cast iron is a type of cast iron with more than three times the saturation point as compared to standard carbon steel. GHCr has higher hardenability and tensile strength, which makes it suitable for manufacturing automotive parts such as cylinder heads, pistons, valves and other engine components.


Enhanced High Chromium Cast Iron:


Enhanced high chromium cast iron is a type of ferrous material that contains more than 15% chrome by weight. It is used in the manufacturing of cookware, baking trays, and broilers owing to its ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Enhanced high chromium (EHC) cast iron also offers excellent resistance towards stains caused due to oil and grease which makes it suitable for use in griddles, frying pans, and oven mitts among other products.

Aerospace & defense was the dominant application segment in 2016, accounting for a share of over 30.0% in terms of volume.
