High-pressure gas discharge (HPGD) lamp is a device used in high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps. It works on the principle of gaseous diffusion and produces light by the oxidation of gases at very high pressure and temperature. The main components of HPGD lamp include an electric arc, electrodes, reflector, glass envelope containing vaporized mercury, and a streamer for ballasting.
