5N is the current highest standard for high-purity copper wires. It is also known as JIS (Japan Industrial Standards) No. L664-1965, which was established in Japan in 1965. The standard has been revised several times since then and the latest version was published on 15th September 2012.
6N:
6N is the abbreviation for hexagonal close-packed (hCP) or hexagonal solid pack. It is a copper wire shape that has six sides with three wires in each side. The 6N designation was created by the American Wire Gauge Association to represent common gauges used in electrical applications across North America and around the world.
