High Purity Magnesium Chloride is an inorganic compound with the formula MgCl2. It is a white solid that is soluble in water. High purity magnesium chloride has many uses, including as a flux in metallurgy, as a coagulant agent, and as an additive to drilling fluids. Anhydrous Magnesium Chloride:


Anhydrous magnesium chloride is a white crystalline compound and has no taste or odor. It is insoluble in water, alcohol, and ether but dissolves in chloroform and glacial acetic acid. Anhydrous magnesium chloride can be produced by the thermal decomposition of anhydrous MgCl2 or by evaporating dry MgCl2 under vacuum at 100°C for 4 hours.


Hexahydrate Magnesium Chloride:


Hexahydrate magnesium chloride is a type of high purity magnesium chloride which has six hydroxyl groups (OH) attached to it. It is also known as 6-0- hexahydrate or sometimes written as Mg(ClO6)2. Hexahydrate form of magnesium chloride has formula Mg(ClO6)2x3+x4, where x represents an integer from 2 to 4.
