Epoxy resin is a thermosetting polymer, which contains an epoxide group. It is manufactured by the catalytic oxidation of ethylene oxide with phenol or cresol as a catalyst. The most commonly used epoxy resins include low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE).
Phenols:
Phenols are a group of chemicals with similar molecular structure. They can be classified as alkyl phenols, aryl phenols or cumene (b.p. 65-68°C) and bornyl (b.p. 76-78°C).
Application Insights:
