Gear hydraulic starter is a device, which is used in starting of gears and shafts. It's main function is to provide initial torque needed for the gear to mesh with another one. There are two types of gear hydraulic starters namely external and internal.


Piston Hydraulic Starter:


A piston hydraulic starter is a device used to initiate the movement of a reciprocating engine. It consists of two pistons which are joined by a common reservoir and when pressure is applied to the pistons it causes them to move up and down, in turn starting the engine. The amount of force needed to pressurize the reservoir varies according to vehicle specifications but typically ranges from around 150-200 kgf.
