Industrial grade acetylene is a fuel gas used in oxy-acetylene welding and cutting. It is important because it has a very high flame temperature, which makes it ideal for welding and cutting metals.


Hydrocarbon Pyrolysis Type:


Hydrocarbon pyrolysis type is a process used to convert hydrocarbons such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas into carbon and hydrogen. The process takes place at high temperatures (around 800°C) in the presence of oxygen which helps in breaking down the larger molecules into their component parts.


The end-product of this reaction is called syngas or synthesis gas which contains mostly carbon along with some hydrogen and other gases such as nitrogen, argon, helium.


Calcium Carbide Type:


Calcium carbide is a chemical compound, which is a salt formed by the reaction of calcium oxide with carbon. It has several properties such as high tensile strength, good electrical conductivity, and high hardness. These features make it useful in manufacturing industrial-grade acetylene (I-GA).


The I-GA market was valued at USD 3.6 billion in 2015.

The chemical segment dominated the global industry grade acetylene market in terms of revenue share in 2017. The growth can be attributed to increasing demand for chemicals across various end-use industries such as pharmaceuticals, paints and coatings, and others.
