Solid is a potassium hydroxide solution that has been processed to remove water. It is commercially available in two forms, namely, solid and liquid. The solid form of the product can be further divided into three categories such as microcrystalline (small crystals), amorphous (no definite shape) and crystalline (well-defined crystals). Crystalline solid KOH has an appearance similar to sugar with needles or very small pieces spread throughout.
Liquid:
Liquid is a colorless and highly hygroscopic liquid with a strong odor. It is usually represented by the symbol KOH. It has a high boiling point and low freezing point. The chemical formula of potassium hydroxide can be written as 2KOH or 3KOH depending on its preparation method (calcium or sodium carbonate).
