An infrared remote control is a device used to operate electronic equipment, appliances, and other devices by means of invisible radiation in the infrared range. Infrared remotes use an infrared transmitter to send coded signals to an infrared receiver. The transmitter and receiver communicate with one another by line-of-sight; that is, they must be within direct view of each other. Because line-of-sight communication is necessary, the range of an IR remote control is limited—usually only a few meters.


Short Range:


Short range is the part of infrared remote control which can send signals up to 8 meters. Infrared remote controls are widely used for home appliances such as television, DVD player, air conditioner and others. Short range IR devices are expected to grow at a CAGR of XX% in the next six years owing to its increasing usage in consumer electronics products.


Long Range:


Long range infrared (LROIR) remote control is a wireless technology used to operate consumer electronics devices from distances of up to 10 meters. LROIR works on the principle of detecting the presence, position and motion of objects using infrared radiation.
