Tetra-basic lead Sulphate (Pb2(S04)4) is a white crystalline compound, which is soluble in water and ethanol. It has a molecular weight of 132.46 and an ionic strength of 1.24%. Tetra-basic lead sulfate finds application as stabilizer for PVC compounds owing to its ability to form salts with heavy metals such as iron, copper and zinc when added in high concentrations.
Tri-basic Lead Sulphate:
Tri-basic lead sulfate is a water-soluble inorganic compound used as an additive for PVC stabilizers. It has the ability to form solid salts with various acids such as sulfuric, hydrochloric, and phosphoric acid. Tri-basic lead sulfate is also known as 1:1 mixture of Pb(OH)2:Pb3+ salt which consists of three Pb ions and one OH ion.
