Lanoceric acid is a long chain fatty acid that is found in animal fats and oils. It is used as a lubricant, surfactant, and emulsifier. Lanoceric acid is also used in the manufacture of soaps, detergents, and other personal care products.

The 130 mg KOH/g is the concentration of potassium hydroxide used for neutralization of acid formed when lanolin is treated with sulfuric acid. It has been found that Lanoceric Acid (LA) can be synthesized from olefin and LA via step-growth polymerization. The major raw materials used in the preparation of LA include ethylene, propylene, and butadiene which are derived from crude oil or petrochemicals.


130-155 mg KOH/g:


130-155 mg KOH/g is the average molecular weight of lanoic acid. It’s a fatty acid found in many Lanolin (wool wax) based products such as wool grease, hair conditioners, cosmetics and skincare products. The higher the molecular weight, the more likely it is to be found in animal fats rather than vegetable oils.


Lanoceric Acid has been used for centuries in traditional medicines across Europe.


Application Insights:

It is also employed as a preservative in various cosmetic formulations including creams, lotions and bath oils.
