Product Definition:


Light Linear Alpha Olefin (LLAO) is a synthetic, high-performance polymer used in the production of engineering plastics. It has excellent dimensional stability, low moisture absorption and good resistance to chemicals and solvents. These properties make it an ideal material for applications such as gears, seals, bearings and other moving parts in contact with oil or other fluids.


Butene:


Butene is a colorless, flammable organic liquid. It is the basic building block for many petrochemical products such as ethylene, propylene and styrene. Butene can be derived from natural gas or coal bed methane through steam cracking process or by chemical synthesis.


Hexane:


Hexane is a colorless and flammable organic liquid. It is also an important industrial solvent. Hexane has a strong smell similar to that of gasoline. It has a boiling point of around 150 °C (300 °F) and a melting point of 37 °C (100 °F). Hexane is usually stored in steel drums or plastic bags with the help of tarpaulins as it is too volatile for use in storage tanks.


Application Insights:


The other application segment includes food, cosmetics, textiles and paper among others. The demand for LLA in the wax application segment accounted for over 40% of the overall market revenue in 2017. Olefins are used as a processing aid and additive to improve the flowability of oleic acid when it is applied in coatings & adhesives applications. This has led to increased penetration of light linear alpha olefin (LLAO) based products in wax applications across various industries such as construction, automotive and packaging among others globally.


In terms of revenue medical application dominated North America followed by Europe with around 25% share each respectively on account of high product penetration rate due to its properties including biodegradability which makes it suitable for use within medical devices & equipment manufacturing industry across both regions globally.
