They work on the principle of elasticity of gases, which is based on sound waves generated by a crystal or membrane motion sensor. The resulting acoustic wave causes vibrations in the liquid that create an electrical signal indicating the volume being measured.
Contact Supersonic Flowmeters:
Contact supersonic flowmeters are used to measure the flow rate of gases and liquids in ducts. They work on the principle of shockwave generation between the probe and the medium being measured. The sound waves created by this process are used to measure liquid or gas velocity.
The major advantage offered by contact supersonic flowmeters is that they provide real-time temperature measurement, which other conventional methods lack.
