Antibiotic-Loaded Bone Cement:


Antibiotic-loaded bone cement is a new type of bone cement that contains antibiotics to fight against the harmful bacteria. The main purpose of antibiotic-loaded bone cement is to reduce the risk of infection around the surgery site and prevent leakage from occurring in case there are any problems with the implant.


The market for antibiotic-loaded bone cements is still at its nascent stage, as this product has only been approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor.


Non-Antibiotic-Loaded Bone Cement:


Non-antibiotic-loaded bone cement is a new generation of bone cement that has been developed to provide osteoarthritis patients with long-term (6 months or more) relief from joint pain and stiffness. The non-antibiotic loaded bone cement contains the same amount of active ingredient as standard antibiotic loaded ones, however, it does not contain any antibiotics.
