MnF2 is a manganese fluoride which has applications in the semiconductor industry, as an electrolyte in lithium-ion batteries and for manufacturing glass. It is also used as a catalyst material for producing polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and it's precursor, acrylonitrile. The global demand was estimated to be around 1,500 kilo tons in 2015.
MnF3:
MnF3 is a manganese, iron, and fluorine compound. It has the formula 3 (Mn2+ Fe2+)O 2. It occurs in nature as a mineral known as Fluorspar. Fluorspar can be found in various minerals such as fluorite (a calcium-fluoride based compound), cryolite (a sodium-fluoride based compound) and bauxite (an aluminum-fluoride based compound).
