RO:


RO is used in desalination process which helps to remove the salt from water. RO works on the basis of chemical reactions between feed water and product water. The chemical reaction increases the pH value of product water, thereby making it more basic or alkaline. In marine applications, RO is used for seawater desalination as it produces freshwater with a much lower concentration than that of saltwater.

MSF:


Marine salt-filtration system or Marine Superfilter (MSF) is a type of advanced water treatment system used in desalination plants to remove suspended solids, bacteria and other organic matter from seawater before it is entered into the desalination process.


The technology has been around for many years but was improved upon during the Iraq war when British firm GAC Engineering developed an MSF which was used in the Al Muthana plant.
