Product Definition:

Type 403:
Type 403 is a martensitic stainless steel and has the same properties as ferritic stainless steel but with added carbonitriding. It offers good corrosion resistance, high strength and hardness, low yield stress during solidification, easy fabrication methods including vacuum metalizing and powder metallurgy techniques. The main factors limiting its use are cost (in comparison to ferritic) due to lower production rates coupled with limited supply resulting in high product prices.
Type 410:
Type 410 is a martensitic ferritic-iron alloy and has nickel, chromium, molybdenum and titanium as main ingredients. It has the highest carbon content of any ferritic-iron type with less than 10% silicon. The material is used in applications requiring high strength along with excellent corrosion resistance such as automotive parts due to its low maintenance properties at an elevated temperature.
