It does not use fluorescent or radioactive labels, but rather utilizes the naturally occurring phosphorescence of proteins to detect and identify cellular properties. The major advantage of this technique is that it can be used for any biological sample, such as blood, tissue, urine etc., without contamination due to fluorescent or radioactive labels.
