Thiacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide. It was registered for use in the European Union in 2005 and has been used on a commercial scale since 2007. The product is manufactured by Bayer CropScience AG, an agricultural chemicals company based in Germany.


The global thiacloprid market size was valued at USD 848 million in 2015.


Application Insights:


Neonicotinoids are used in a wide range of applications including agriculture, turf and garden care, forestry and woodlands, horticulture, animal nutrition and management. In agriculture application includes cereals production as well as vegetable farming. Neonicotinoids are widely used in the cultivation of cereals on account of its ability to stimulate plant growth through uptake by the roots. However usage rates vary from crop to crop depending on their sensitivity towards pests. Neonicotinoid pesticides have been found effective against a wide range of insects including aphids, beetles larvae (caterpillars), moths grubs (ground beetles), sawflies larvae soybean aphids squash bugs tobacco budworms etc., which aid in enhancing yield & quality as well as improving resistance towards diseases & disorders during cultivation process.


In turf and garden care neonicotinoids are extensively used for lawns & ground covers treatment weed control etc.
