Aliphatic is a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon with no aromaticity. They are mostly used as solvents in water-based coatings and are also utilized as curing agents in the paint industry. Aliphatic compounds have an odor similar to petroleum or butyric acid. The most commonly used compound is n-butane, which has a sweetish smell when it is pure, but gets stronger when mixed with other compounds such as hexane and octene.


Cycloaliphatic:


Cycloaliphatic is a type of organic compound derived from the chlorination of aromatic compounds. They are colorless, odorless, tasteless gases with a mild toxicological profile. Cycloaliphatic molecules do not exist in nature and can be produced by several methods including the oxidation of toluene and benzene or by heating cyclohexane with calcium hydride (calcium hexahydride).
