Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a peptide hormone that regulates the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the blood. PTH increases serum calcium levels by promoting absorption of dietary calcium from the gastrointestinal tract and reabsorption of calcium from bone tissue. It also promotes conversion of vitamin D to its active form, which increases intestinal absorption of phosphate.

Hypocalcemia is a medical condition wherein there is a deficiency of calcium in the blood. The main symptoms associated with this disease are muscle spasms, pain in the bones and nerves, cramps, tetany (muscle stiffness), frequent urination, and heart arrhythmia. This disease has two types: primary hypocalcemia and secondary hypocalcemia.
Hypoparathyroidism:
Hypoparathyroidism is a medical condition in which the level of parathyroid hormone (PTH) is insufficient. It’s caused by reduced production of PTH-related peptides from cells located in the anterior pituitary gland. This results in an elevated PTH level, which has to be lowered with medication by oral or injectable drugs.
