Market Overview:
The global PE pipes and fittings market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2018 to 2030. The growth in the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for plastic pipes and fittings in various applications, such as offshore pipelines, onshore pipelines, water supply systems, and sewerage systems. In terms of type, the PE80 segment is expected to dominate the global PE pipes and fittings market during the forecast period. This can be attributed to its high resistance to crack propagation and superior performance under pressure conditions as compared with other types of polyethylene pipe materials. In terms of application, the offshore pipeline segment is projected to grow at a higher CAGR than other segments during the forecast period.
Product Definition:
PE pipes and fittings are made from polyethylene, a type of plastic. PE is corrosion resistant, making it ideal for use in water and wastewater applications. PE pipes are also strong and durable, making them a popular choice for plumbing applications.
PE80:
PE80 is a kind of polyethylene used in the manufacturing of pipes & fittings. It has 80% crude oil and 20% propylene content, which makes it ideal for use in plastic piping systems as well as plumbing fittings. The PE80 pipe and fitting product line offers high chemical resistance, excellent flow characteristics along with being able to withstand temperatures up to 210°C ( Braze-on only at 200 °C) under pressure.
PE100:
PE100 is a type of polyethylene used in the manufacturing of plumbing fittings and electrical connections. It has high resistance to chemicals, such as oil, grease, and water; making it suitable for use in various applications including plumbing fittings and electrical connections. PE100 also offers high impact strength which makes it ideal for use in piping systems that are exposed to extreme pressure or temperature conditions.
Application Insights:
The global demand for pipes and fittings was dominated by the onshore pipeline segment, which accounted for a revenue share of over 70.0% in 2017. Onshore applications include oil & gas processing plants, refineries, petrochemical units and natural gas compression stations among others. The growth of the onshore market is attributed to an increase in infrastructure development projects across various regions coupled with growing demand from industrial applications such as chemical plants and power generation facilities among others.
The offshore segment is projected to witness significant growth over the forecast period owing to increasing investments in deepwater exploration activities along with rising concerns regarding downtime due to accidents at sea or leakage that could potentially lead to environmental damage if not controlled properly.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific dominated the global market in 2017 and is expected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. The region has a large number of oil & gas, power, and other industries requiring pipes for transportation of fluids. In addition, increasing government spending on infrastructure development is anticipated to drive demand for pipelines in this region.
North America accounted for a significant share owing to growing shale gas production coupled with extensive usage of water during hydraulic fracturing operations. In addition, rising need for wastewater treatment after fracking will augment market growth over the forecast period.
The Middle East & Africa was one of the largest markets in 2017 owing to rapid development taking place across several countries including Saudi Arabia and UAE due to which there has been an increase in investments relatedto energy sector as well as other sectors such as water sector.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand from water and wastewater management sector
- Rising awareness about the benefits of using PE pipes & fittings
- Growing construction industry in developing countries
- Technological advancements that have led to the development of new products and applications
- Stringent government regulations for water conservation
