Market Overview:
The global penflufen market is expected to grow at a CAGR of XX% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The growth in the market can be attributed to factors such as rising demand for organic produce, increasing awareness about benefits of using penflufen, and growing demand for fruits and vegetables. However, the high cost of production may restrain the growth of this market during the forecast period. On the basis of type, the global penflufen market is segmented into content ≥98% and content <98%. The content ≥98% segment is expected to account for a larger share in terms of revenue in 2018. This can be attributed to its higher efficiency as compared to content <98%. On the basis of application, cereals and grains are estimated to account for a larger share in terms of revenue in 2018. This can be attributed to their widespread use across various applications such as animal feed, food processing industry etc.
Product Definition:
Penflufen is a fluorinated pyrazole herbicide developed by Syngenta. It has been used to control broadleaf weeds in maize, soybean, cotton, and other crops.
Content ≥98%:
Penflufen is a fluorinated paraffin wax, which is added to the content of paper and pulp. It helps in increasing the gloss and smoothness of writing surface. The product also increases ink holding capacity as well as binding power between fibers of paper. Thus, it can be used for coating wide range products such as cardboard, cartons, magazines & other print media on account of its excellent water resistance properties.
Content <98%:
Penflufen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. It works by decreasing the production of cytokines, which are substances that cause inflammation. The drug has been approved for use in Canada, Europe and Australia; however, it is not yet approved in the U.S., despite having completed clinical trials there 10 years ago.
Application Insights:
The global penflufen market is segmented by application into cereals and grains, pulses and oilseeds, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, others (bakery products, meat products) and the regional breakdown into North America; Latin America; Europe; Asia Pacific; Middle East & Africa.
Cereals & grains was the largest application segment in 2017 with a market share of over 40%. The demand for this product from this sector is increasing on account of its ability to provide essential nutrients such as protein at low costs. Moreover, it can be used as an effective fertilizer due to its high nitrogen content which further drives its demand. However rising awareness regarding health benefits associated with whole grain intake may hamper the growth in near future.
Regional Analysis:
North America dominated the global market in 2017. The region is expected to witness considerable growth over the forecast period owing to rising consumer awareness regarding a healthy lifestyle and increasing disposable income. Moreover, growing demand for organic products has resulted in an increased demand for content-free penflufenol DF and its derivatives.
Asia Pacific is anticipated to be one of the fastest-growing regions during the forecast period owing to rapid economic development coupled with increasing per capita income levels in emerging countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Furthermore, government initiatives promoting agricultural productivity are likely to have a positive impact on industry growth over the coming years. ‰â€œâ€‘‘’‘Æ’ ‘% â™% %&'()(*+,-.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for fruits and vegetables due to changing lifestyle and growing awareness about the benefits of consuming fruits and vegetables.
- Rising disposable income of consumers leading to an increase in spending on food items, including pesticides.
- Growing concerns about food safety among consumers, which is driving them towards organic produce and products that are free from harmful chemicals such as pesticides.
- Rapid expansion of the retail sector, especially in developing countries, providing a larger platform for selling pesticide-free produce to consumers.
