Anionic surfactant is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of alkylbenzene. It has an aliphatic structure with long alkyl chains and a short aromatic tail. The general formula for anionic surfactants is (R1) 2+ where R1 can be linear or branched chain, Alkyl groups can be linear or branched and they may have from 3 to 20 carbon atoms in them.


Cationic Surfactant:


Cationic surfactant is a type of surfactant that contains anionic and cationic groups. The anionic group accounts for the majority of the molecule, while the cationic group has a longer aliphatic tail.


The structure of these compounds differs from other non-pharmaceutical or non-industrial uses in that they have more hydrophobic parts (tail).
