Naphthalene is a chemical compound and an organic liquid. It has the formula C10H8. It is a white crystalline solid that readily gives off aromatic fumes when heated or exposed to air. Naphthalene can be produced by several methods but the most common one used today is via hydro- cracking of naphtha (a form of crude oil).
