Market Overview:
The global pilot-operated relief valve market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2018 to 2030. The growth in the market can be attributed to the increasing demand for pressure vessels and boilers across the globe. Additionally, the growing industrialization and urbanization are also contributing to the growth of this market. The global pilot-operated relief valve market is segmented on the basis of type, application, and region. On the basis of type, it is divided into closed type and non-closed type valves. Closed type valves are further classified into two types: spring return valves and balanced pressure valves; while non-closed type valves are further classified into three types: piston operated relief valves (PORVs), diaphragm operated relief valves (DORVs), and bellows operated relief Valves (BORVs). By application, it is segmented into boilers, pressure vessels, refrigeration systems & air conditioning systems,, oil refineries & petrochemical plants,, gas processing plants,, others,. The Others segment includes mining applications,. On the basis of region,. North America accounted for majority share in 2017 due to high demand from end users such as power generation companies,, oil refineries & petrochemical plants,, gas processing plants etc., followed by Europe.
Product Definition:
A pilot-operated relief valve is a type of pressure relief valve that uses a small pilot fluid to control the flow of a larger main fluid. This type of relief valve is often used in systems where there is a large difference in pressure between the outlet and inlet, as it can provide more accurate and consistent control than other types of pressure relief valves.
Closed Type:
Closed type is a valve, which is used in the pilot operated relief valve market. It’s an internal combustion engine-controlled device that opens to let exhaust gases out when the pressure in the cylinder gets lower than a set value. The closed type can be differentiated from open type by looking at its body - closed types have a round body and open types are square shaped.
Non-closed Type:
Non-closed type is used in pilot-operated relief valve market. It’s a safety device that opens automatically to reduce the pressure in the system and prevent it from bursting. The non-closing type has no moving parts, so there are no risks of failure or wear & tear.
The demand for non-closed valves is increasing due to their application in high vacuum systems.
Application Insights:
The boiler application segment led the global pilot-operated relief valve market in 2017 and is projected to expand at a CAGR of XX% over the forecast period. The growth can be attributed to an increase in demand for boilers across various industries, including power generation, steel manufacturing, and commercial sectors.
The others application segment includes chemical plants, oil & gas facilities, LNG terminals and petrochemical units among others. These applications require a high level of safety approval for their installation as they are likely to experience high pressure differences or temperatures during normal operations. As a result, these types of valves are installed according to the requirements specified by regulatory authorities or system designers with regard to safety approvals and operational procedures followed by them respectively.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing regional market over the forecast period. The growth can be attributed to increasing construction activities in emerging economies of India and China. In addition, rising demand for air conditioning units in these countries is likely to drive product demand further. Europe also accounted for a significant share of the overall revenue and is expected to witness steady growth over the next eight years owing to stringent regulatory norms regarding emission control as well as relief valve design requirements laid down by various agencies such as UIC, AWS DIN VDE 0343 and ISO 1444-2:1993 concerning safety valves on pressure vessels operating at high pressures - Part 2: General requirements for safety valves on pressure vessels operating at high pressures - Safety factors applicable when determining whether a relief valve fulfills its nominal requirement (maximum working pressure plus minimum operationpressure).
North America was one of the largest markets with more than 20% revenue share in 2016 due primarilyto large number of manufacturing facilities present across U.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for energy efficient systems in various industries
- Growing awareness about the benefits of using relief valves
- Rising investments in process automation and instrumentation
- Proliferation of smart technologies and their integration with relief valves
- Stringent regulations for safety and efficiency in process industries
