Subsurface safety valves are used to control and monitor the flow of a fluid under pressure in a pipe or tunnel. They are mainly installed at places where the pipes cross over each other, or enter into narrow passageways. The function of these valves is to protect people and infrastructure from harmful gases that may be present in the event of an accident along the pipeline.
