Cellulose, the main structural component of plants and animals, has been the key raw material used for manufacturing high viscosity products. The most commonly used product is carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). CMC accounts for more than half of the total market volume and its demand was 1,12,000 tons in 2015.


Low Viscosity:


Low viscosity polyanionic cellulose polymer is a water-soluble anion exchanger that belongs to the class of organic anion transporters. It is used in pharmaceutical and biomedical applications as a low-viscosity fluid for transporting cations such as calcium across membranes.


The product finds application in blood transfusion where it acts as a substitute for plasma, which helps reduce hemolysis and improves storage stability of blood components.
