Market Overview:
The global polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins market is expected to reach USD XX million by 2030, at a CAGR of XX% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. PVC resins are used in various applications such as automotive, building & construction, consumer goods and others. The growth of the global PVC resins market is mainly driven by the increasing demand for automobiles and consumer goods across the globe. In addition, rising investments in infrastructure development projects are also contributing to the growth of this market. However, volatility in raw material prices may restrain the growth of this market to some extent during the forecast period. On basis on type, suspension polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin segment is projected to hold major share in global PVC resin market over next 10 years owing its properties including good impact strength and stiffness along with low water absorption rates which make it suitable for manufacturing products that require high durability outdoors such as pipes and fittings used for plumbing systems etcetera .
Product Definition:
PVC resins are a family of polymers derived from vinyl chloride monomer. PVC is the world's third-most widely produced plastic, after polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC resins have many important applications, including for pipe and profile extrusion, wire and cable coating, sheet and film production, injection molding, thermoforming and blow molding.
Suspension Polyvinyl Chloride(PVC) Resins:
Suspension Polyvinyl Chloride(PVC) Resins, also called as Sliver resins or PVC resins are widely used in construction and electrical applications. It is a flexible plastic with high strength and durability. They can be processed like other plastics but have unique properties that make them useful for various end-use industries such as construction, electrical, automotive & electronics etc.
Emulsion Polyvinyl Chloride(PVC) Resins:
Emulsion polyvinyl chloride is a type of synthetic polymer, which is manufactured by the emulsion polymerization of vinyl chloride. It has high molecular weight and low molecular mass ratio. The product has similar properties as that of natural rubber; in other words, it exhibits high tensile strength and good elasticity. However, unlike natural rubber it does not contain any element that can bring about an end to chain scission thus making it non- vulcanizing .
Application Insights:
Building and construction was the largest application segment in 2017. PVC resins are used for exterior applications such as roofing, siding, cladding and wall covering. They are also used for interiors such as flooring, countertop lamination and acoustic solutions. The growing residential & commercial construction sector across the globe is expected to drive demand over the forecast period.
The automotive industry is one of the major consumers of polyvinyl chloride resin owing to its lightweight properties along with other benefits like cost-effectiveness and ease of processing involved in its manufacturing process compared to other plastics or metals available in market place today.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific dominated the global market in 2017 and is expected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. The growth of this region can be attributed to increasing PVC demand from emerging economies, such as China, India, and Japan. In addition, rising construction spending due to growing urbanization in these countries is anticipated to fuel product demand over the coming years.
The Asia Pacific was followed by Europe which accounted for a share of more than 25% in 2017 owing to high acceptance of PVC products especially from building & construction application segment across European countries including Germany, France and U.K., which are major consumers of PVC products globally.
Growth Factors:
- Growing demand from construction and infrastructure sectors
- Rising demand for PVC resins in Asia Pacific region
- Increasing use of PVC resins in automotive sector
- Growth in the medical industry due to its properties such as durability, chemical resistance, and non-toxicity
- Technological advancements that have led to the development of new applications for PVC resins
