Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is a new technology that allows detection of genetic diseases in an embryo before it is implanted into the uterus. PGD can be used for both non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and invasive prenatal testing (APT). PGD tests detect mutations in certain genes, which may lead to disease development if the fetus has inherited the mutation.
