Market Overview:
The global resettable electronic recloser market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.5% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The market growth can be attributed to the increasing demand for energy efficiency and safety in electrical distribution systems. Additionally, the growing awareness about the benefits of using resettable electronic reclosers is also contributing to the growth of this market. Based on type, the global resettable electronic recloser market can be segmented into up to 15 KV, 16-27 KV, and 28-38 KV segments. The up to 15 KV segment is expected to account for a major share of this market during the forecast period owing to its low cost and easy installation. By application, this market can be divided into three segments: commercial, industrial/infrastructure, and others (residential/utilities).
Product Definition:
A resettable electronic recloser (REC) is a power-switching device used in electrical distribution systems to automatically open and close an electrical circuit, as well as resetting itself after each operation. RECs are often used to protect against faults on overhead power lines, by opening the circuit when a fault is detected and then closing it after the fault has been cleared. RECs can also be used to manage voltage levels and improve system reliability.
Up to 15 KV:
Up to 15 KV is a generic term used for electricity supply between the range of 0.15 kV up to and including 1.5 kV. It is also known as low voltage electricity or lower voltage electric current (LVEC).
16-27 KV:
The 16-27 KV is a range of high voltage electronic reclosers used in the industries for power transmission and switching. It’s an electronic circuit that uses magnetic fields to generate low energy pulses which are then used to trigger the relays which ultimately transmit the signal. The product finds its major application in HVDC systems as it helps in achieving extremely high frequency and ultra-low frequencies along with providing excellent line losses, thus making it suitable for use across long distances.
Application Insights:
Electronic application segment led the global resettable electronic recloser market and accounted for more than 60.0% share of the total revenue in 2017. The growth is attributed to rising demand from industrial applications, such as power generation plants and petrochemical refineries. Moreover, growing electronics industry in Asia Pacific coupled with high demand for electricity is expected to drive the product demand over the forecast period.
Commercial application segment was valued at USD 1,227.5 million in 2017 owing to increasing construction activities across commercial buildings including shopping malls, hospitals and office complexes on account of rapid urbanization along with growing population is expected to drive product consumption over the forecast period significantly contributing towards market growth during future years 2030 2029.
The others application segment includes sports stadiums.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific dominated the global resettable electronic recloser market in 2017. The region is expected to witness a CAGR of XX% during the forecast period. Increasing demand for electricity and rising industrialization are some of the major factors driving growth in this region. Furthermore, growing construction activities due to rapid urbanization is also anticipated to drive product demand over the forecast period.
Europe accounted for more than 25% share of overall revenue in 2017 owing to high penetration of electric reclosers used across various industries such as manufacturing, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals and food processing among others for restarting operations after maintenance or repair work on machinery etc.
The Middle East & Africa (MEA) market was valued at USD X million in 2017.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for resettable electronic reclosers from the utility sector as a result of growing infrastructure development activities across the globe.
- Rising investments in smart grid technologies and upgradation of existing grids to make them more efficient and reliable.
- Growing concerns over power outages and their impact on businesses, households, and other critical infrastructure facilities, which is driving the adoption of resettable electronic reclosers as a backup measure for mitigating power failures.
- Rapid expansion in renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy, which are often associated with high levels of intermittency, necessitating the need for better management of electrical grids through deployment of advanced technologies such as resettable electronic reclosers .
