A residual current transformer (RCT) is a device used to detect and measure the leakage current of an electrical system. The RCT is placed in series with the load, and the leakage current flows through the RCT's primary winding. The secondary winding of the RCT produces a voltage proportional to the amount of leakage current flowing through it. This voltage can be measured and used to calculate the amount of leakage current in amperes.
Circular Ttpe:
Circular ttpe is a type of secondary/backup power supply that uses a single-phase AC input and can provide output in the range of 24V. It has an advantage over linear ttpe as it provides more flexibility when used with multiple devices. The major application areas include telecom base stations, telecommunication tower equipment, UPS (uninterruptible power supply), security systems, medical equipment and other industrial applications such as printing & copier machines.
Rectangle Type:
A rectangle type is a current transformer with an insulated backplate and without any internal cross-connection. It is mainly used in residual current transformer (RCT) applications where the primary and secondary windings are mounted in a single, common frame as shown in the figure below.
The advantages of using this type include low cost, easy installation, and good mechanical stability.
