Product Definition:


Rudder propellers are the large, flat-bladed propellers near the rear of a ship. They are used to steer the ship by providing sideways thrust.


Z Drive:


Z-drive is the propeller's term for the forward or backward movement of a propeller driven ship. The Z-drive in a rudder propelled vessel is achieved by using the energy from its own momentum and turning it into forward motion. In other words, it's similar to an automobile where gasoline powering engine creates rotational motion which is then converted to linear by gear reduction system and used as drive mechanism for vehicle wheels.

L Drive:


The L-drive is a type of hybrid propulsion system which uses the energy from the spinning propeller to provide movement in the forward and reverse direction. The system works on different principles depending upon whether it is a diesel or gas engine based system. In case of diesel engines, fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber where as in case of gas turbines, compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane are used as fuels.
