Open loop scrubbers are used in gas turbine exhausts to remove particulate matter and harmful gases. The system consists of a high-pressure pump, filter, blower or fan, scrubber bed (or beds), and a control valve. The control valve is used to regulate the flow of air into the scrubber chamber(s).
Closed Loop Scrubbers:
Closed loop scrubbers are used to remove pollutants from the gas stream. It is a closed system which has no external connection to atmosphere. The scrubber system consists of three major components namely, control equipment, gas-liquid interface and pollutant removal technology. The working principle of this type of scrubber is very simple; it uses chemical reaction or physical process for pollutant removal.
