Semiconductor-grade polysilicon is a type of polycrystalline silicon that has been purified to a high degree for use in the semiconductor industry. It is used in the manufacture of integrated circuits, solar cells, and other electronic devices.
Grade I:
The grade I polysilicon has a composition of greater than 60% by weight of the total silicon content. It is produced using high-pressure, high-temperature techniques and has excellent electrical characteristics. Grade I polysilicon finds application in power devices such as solar cells and batteries owing to its superior properties including low resistivity, low leakage current, good thermal conductivity and higher energy density.
Grade II:
The grade II polysilicon has a composition of greater than 60% by weight of the total silicon content and less than 70% by weight of the total non-silicon content. It is produced using high-pressure, high temperature (HPHT) processes and possesses properties such as low density, low viscosity, good thermal conductivity & convection, and fair mechanical strength.
