Reversed-phase technology has been around for more than two decades and was initially used in tobacco products such as cigarettes. Ion-Exchange:


Ion-exchange is a type of liquid chromatography used to separate an ionic compound from a solution. It is also known as anion exchange or cation exchange depending on the polarity of the compounds being analyzed. SPE cartridges are filled with anions and cations which can be extracted by water, alcohol or diethyl ether and then analyzed using ion-exchange technology.
