This white powder is insoluble in water and alcohol but forms a colloidal suspension in acetone, ethanol, ethyl ether or n-propyl alcohol. The compound finds application as an additive for plastic products such as polyethylene, polystyrene and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).
