Product Definition:


A subsea tensioner is a device used to apply tension to a line or cable. This is important for maintaining the position of pipelines, cables, and other underwater infrastructure.


Compact Type:


Compact type is a device used to lower the subsea pressure in oil & gas wells. It works by creating a vacuum that draws oil up to the surface where it can be recovered using an artificial lift system. The compact type tensioner market has witnessed significant growth over the past few years owing to its rising demand from onshore and offshore drilling activities across various regions including North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, and MEA.


Non-Compact Type:


Non-compact type is a method used to measure the force in subsea wells. It uses a cable that is wound around the wellbore and attached to an instrument at the surface. As oil or gas rises in response to pumping, the weight on the cable causes it to unwind and transmit data about depth, temperature, pressure etc. This technology has been around for many years but has recently undergone significant technological advancements resulting into more efficient products with higher accuracy levels.

The segment is expected to witness significant growth owing to the rising demand for deep-water infrastructure, such as pipelines and platforms. Tensioners are used in various types of structures, including tension leg platforms, floating production storage and offloading units (FPSO), fixed production storage units (FPSU), mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs) and others.


Non-compact type dominates the market due to its ability to withstand high stress levels without failure or damage. Compact type is widely used in tensioner applications as they provide higher reliability at a lower cost than non-compact types do. However, non-compact type has a higher installation cost than compact ones do since it requires fewer components on account of its simpler design structure compared with compact types do.
