The buck regulator has three terminals; normally closed, normally open and output terminal. The input and output terminals can be connected to an electric circuit or battery by shorting out the appropriate terminals with a screw driver or any other conductive object as long as both ends of the connection are same potential (i.e.

The boost regulators (step-up) are used to increase the output voltage of a switching regulator. The boost regulator is an electronic device that regulates the flow of electric power by increasing or decreasing the output voltage. It can be step-up, step-down or linear and is widely used in applications where high efficiency and low noise are required such as LED lighting, LCD displays, power supplies etc.
