Thio chemicals are a class of sulfur-containing organic compounds. They are used as intermediates in the synthesis of other organic molecules, and as corrosion inhibitors.

Sulfur is a chemical element that is found in the earth's crust. It is mainly present as an ore called sulfuret of calcium or sulfur. Sulfur has two forms, namely, white and red (or yellow). The difference between them is only in their color which can be removed by filtration process. Red sulfur or ferrous sulfate as it’s commonly known contains iron along with other metals such as manganese, lead and nickel.


Methyl Mercaptan:


Methyl mercaptan is a chemical compound derived from amino acids. It has a strong smell similar to vinegar and is usually added to thio chemicals in order to give them an odor. Methyl mercaptan can also be produced synthetically using methylation of propionic acid. The product finds application as an aroma ingredient in various industries including food, pharmaceuticals, paints & coatings and cosmetics among others.
