Market Overview:
The global triethylgermanium market is expected to grow at a CAGR of XX% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2030. The triethylgermanium market is segmented on the basis of type, application and region. On the basis of type, the triethylgermanium market is segmented into halogenated triethylgermanium, alkyl triethylgermanium and Triethylergemanum hydride.Onther basis of region, the triethlyerganimu market is segmented into North America, Latin America Europe Asia Pacific and Middle East & Africa .
Product Definition:
Triethylgermanium (TEG) is a chemical compound with the formula Ge(C2H5)3. This colorless, volatile liquid is a derivative of germanium. TEG is an important precursor to other organogermanium compounds such as tetraethylgermane (TeGE), which finds use in organic synthesis.
Halogenated Triethylgermanium:
Triethylgermanium (TEG) is a colorless, odorless, highly flammable liquid. It's chemical formula is (CH3)3Ga and it has a triple bond between the carbon & the germanium. Triethylgermanium finds application in various industries such as electronics, automotive industry and medical sector among others.
Alkyl Triethylgermanium:
Alkyl triethylgermanium (ATG) is a colorless liquid with a strong odor. It is soluble in diethyl ether, acetone, and water. The compound has been used as an electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries and also as an additive to polymers due to its high ionic strength.
Application Insights:
Catalyst was the largest application segment in 2017 and is projected to witness a CAGR of XX% over the forecast period. The catalyst market is witnessing significant growth on account of its rising use in refining processes such as FCC, LCA, and catalytic reforming for producing fuels & chemicals including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and synthetic oil among others.
The precursor of germanium application segment accounted for a share of 3% in 2017 owing to its increasing use as an additive in electronics industry which requires small amounts (less than 0.1 %)of element YG for improving performance characteristics such as strength, conductivity and heat resistance among others. Triethylgermanium can also be used along with other additives during manufacturing process which involves coating technology applied using thin film coatings or multilayer coatings depending upon their intended purpose such as corrosion resistance or hardness respectively among others.
Regional Analysis:
Asia Pacific was the largest market in 2016 and is expected to continue its dominance over the forecast period. The region accounts for a major share of global population, which makes it a potential target for various consumer goods manufacturers. In addition, increasing demand from end-use industries such as electronics and automotive is anticipated to drive the growth of TEGM market in this region.
The growing chemical industry coupled with rising environmental concerns has led governments across Asia Pacific to introduce stringent regulations regarding VOC emissions from manufacturing plants; therefore, Triethylgermanium consumption has increased significantly in countries such as China and India over the past few years.
Europe accounted for more than 25% of global revenue share in 2016 owing to high demand from Germany along with other countries including France, U.K.
Growth Factors:
- Increasing demand for Triethylgermanium in various end-use industries such as electronics, semiconductors, and others is expected to drive the market growth.
- Growing demand for Triethylgermanium from developing countries is another key factor that would fuel the market growth in the near future.
- Rising investments by leading players for R&D activities to develop new applications of Triethylgermanium is anticipated to create new opportunities for the market growth over the forecast period.
- Increasing adoption of Triethylgermanium owing to its properties such as high thermal stability, low toxicity, and others is projected to propel the market expansion in years ahead.
